Jim Coe - Fine Artist
Jim received his BFA in photography from the San Francisco Art Institute, where he later taught. He's always been fascinated with light and color. As a kid, he photographed his plaster scenes with his models. At the Art Institute, Jim minored in printmaking, experimented with visual perception, used Ansel Adam's 'Zone System' and visited with top area photographers. He completed a 10 day workshop with photographer Minor White.
Jim helped Invent the 'light shows' of the 1960's. He invented various light sculptures, laser and other light effects. Pioneering in personal computers, Jim built his first in 1976, based on the same 'Popular Electronics' article used by Bill Gates for his first a few months earlier. He began using early digital art products and is a master of Photoshop. Jim is now a student of 3D modeling, and continues making fine art photos.
